Color in the Moonlight

there is no color under the light

of the moon, except in the halo

ringing around her.

the path lies directly ahead,

even in the moon’s light it

completely surrounds her

Every scene a reflection, afterimage of

what was

before, a constant link to the chain around her pale

soft flesh:

a chain in the links of time from present

to past

to everything in between. the passings

of clouds

fills me with a peace like no other

i feel myself into the sea, osmosis

for the pain

saltwater tears season my temples

after a recognition of a long lost presence

We do not see her in the light of the sun--

even still they exist in the same sky in a blissful balance like no other.

the clouds envelope her, presence in perpetual motion

a glimmer atop a vast glass of ocean, geometric

yet, still flow in

the stillness of the night

Cloaking, the sounds in the deep

Is there color under the light of the moon?

Let’s wait and see

Until the light of the day comes

to interrupt

our study
