Mala is a poet based on Oahu, Hawaii. She was born Taylor Malia Barrett to Troy Barrett and Isabella Puapuaga Barrett in Brooklyn, NY.  Her work focuses on perception, gender and race relations and the human condition. Her art takes the form of poetry, blogs, vlogs, nonfiction and editorials, some of which is featured here.
